2022 Patriot Scholarship Award Requirements
The Society of Martha Washington awards patriot scholarships to deserving students to attend close up
Washington DC Flagship Program. This civic education program is 6 days/ 5 nights and features meetings
with
elected officials on Capitol Hill, structured learning activities at Washington’s stunning monuments and
memorials, and the chance to live and learn with students from other schools nationwide. Covid pandemic
protocols are in place for the safety of all participants.
Eligibility Requirements

High school juniors or seniors, male or female.

Grade point average (GPA) of at least 85 (4.5 /6.0).

Extra-curricular activities involvement.

United States Citizen or Legal Resident.
Application Requirements
-
Society of Martha Washington application.
-
Recent photo.
-
Letters of recommendation from teachers and/or counselors.

High School Transcript.
-
Photocopy of the first page of previous years 1040 tax form filed by each parent in the household.
- One essay, minimum 350 words, maximum 500 words on either topic:

1) Describe your understanding achievement in-depth and provide the specific planning, training,
goals,
and steps
taken to make the accomplishment successful. Include details about your role and highlight
leadership skills
you
provided.

2) Why would you like to go to Washington DC for the close-up program? What can you share with
students
from
other
places? What do you want to learn from others? What would you like to know about our
government?
What

“Patriotism” mean to you?

COVID Pandemic Safety Requirements:
